Dxr2 FreeBSD Driver
This project is focued on getting the current Creative Dxr2 linux
drivers/players to work under the
http://www.freebsd.org Platform. FreeBSD is an advanced operating
system for Intel ia32 compatible, DEC Alpha, and PC-98 architectures. It
is derived from BSD UNIX, the version of UNIX developed at the University
of California, Berkeley.
Updates
- Sat Dec 29 07:59:21 EST 2001 by Josh Steele
I have fixed some of the code for the anpi82 module that was not
written very well the first time. Development has been slow, and I
expect will continue to be so because of work with the dvdplay program,
which is getting an overhaul, and chapter support is being added. I
found a nice article from
Daemon News about the FreeBSD Dynamic Kernel Linker (KLD), which
can be found here
Specifications
Single Intel Pentium III CPU rated at 500MHZ
2 128MB PC100 SDRAM Modules
Creative Dxr2 DVD Decoder Card
Creative SB Live! X-Gamer Sound Card
Creative 12x DVD-ROM
FreeBSD 4.4-RELEASE Minimum Install with GENERIC kernel
Linux binary Compatability
Future Plans
When I can either (a) find more people too help or (b) get enough working
code to compile under FreeBSD 4.4-RELEASE I will put up a CVS module
on the Dxr2 Resource Center CVS Repository. Until then, you can either
keep checking the webpage for updates (i will update regularly), or even
better..subscribe to the FreeBSD Port mailing List by going to
http://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/dxr2-porting-bsd and
signing up.
